By using a ring suspended by a cord and positioning it over a surface with the alphabet, symbols or/and numbers inscribed in a circular manner, the medium can observe the movement of the ring which will indicate letters and other symbols in order to gradually form answers. This way of receiving information can also be called pendulum divination and its application is very similar to the use of the spirit board.
A more complex method can be performed by using metal discs with the letters of the alphabet written on them (Three discs per letter). They are thrown on a large surface were the suspended ring is released by burning the thread holding it. Every letters (Discs) on which the ring has rolled and stopped on will form the answer.
Another way to use the suspended ring is by swinging it on a glass and if the ring strikes once it would mean YES and twice NO.
